You found a video on Threads that you want to keep on your Android phone. Threads itself does not let you download videos, but Threadster handles this in a few seconds. You can either paste a link into the Threadster website or use the dedicated Android app and skip the copy paste step.
Both options are free. Let me walk through each.
This works in any Android browser, whether you use Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Samsung Internet, or anything else.
Open the Threads app. Find the post with the video. Tap the share icon below it. Tap Copy Link. The URL is now on your clipboard.
Open your browser and go to threadster.app. Tap the text field at the top of the page and paste the link. Tap Download.
Threadster will show you the available quality options. Tap the Download button next to the one you want. The video starts downloading and lands in your phone's Downloads folder.
You can find it later through your file manager or your gallery app. Most Android phones show downloaded videos in the gallery automatically.
If you download Threads videos more than once in a while, the app is faster. Threadster on Google Play hooks into the Android share sheet so you can send a post straight from Threads.
The video saves to your phone's gallery under a folder called Threadster. From there, you can share it, watch it offline, or move it wherever you want.
HD on Threads is usually 720p or 1080p. On a typical Android phone screen, both look great. If you are going to AirPlay to a TV or send the file to someone else, HD is the safer choice. If you are saving a stack of videos to watch on your phone during a long flight, SD saves space without losing much that you would actually notice. More detail in our post on Threads video formats and quality.
If you used the browser, the video is in your Downloads folder. Open your file manager, find Downloads, and your file is there. Most gallery apps also pick it up automatically.
If you used the Threadster app, the video lives in a Threadster folder in your gallery. Open Google Photos or your default gallery and you should see it.
If the download fails, the most likely cause is that you copied the wrong link. Make sure you tap Copy Link on the post itself, not on the user's profile picture or name.
If your browser is downloading but does not show a notification, swipe down from the top of your screen. Android usually shows download progress in the notification shade.

Android tablets work the same way. The Threadster app supports tablets out of the box, and the browser flow is identical.
